AAC - American Adoption Congress

The AAC began when several adoption reform organizers met in 1977 and representatives from various groups met in different regions, eventually planning the very first gathering in 1978 in Washington, DC. There are many versions of this history, but nothing quite like reading through the documents of the time. There was disagreement and conflict as the hundreds of individuals and organizations tried to find their common ground and create an umbrella under which they could agree to disagree. The American Adoption Congress has now survived for over 3 decades and continues to be a voice in education and reform. The website is www.americanadoptioncongress.org .
